  : Overall the building itself is beautiful, free parking close to door and property overlooks small lake and fields of sheep. Nice sized bath in the room and decent products if you'd forgotten your own.
  : The service and upkeep of the building overall needs some work. I was shocked by how casual and lacking the service was for a hotel like this, yes they tick the boxes of customer care, with a curtesy call before you arrive and show you around which is decent enough, but the actual service is poor. Upon arrival, my greeting was lacking, they jumped straight to "we don't take American Express" instead of asking how i'd booked, checking if I'd pre-paid etc. It was a harsh welcome with a tone of "we hate when people don't book direct". Then, whilst I checked myself if I'd pre-paid, another member came over to reception to talk about another customer in front of me and the issues they'd had with dinner the night before, it was like a telling off, something that certainly could have waited until I'd been checked in and left.The room was fine, nothing special, could do with a decent clean as the grouting was dirty in the bathroom and carpet slightly sticky. The bed was two singles zipped together, even the duvet was two singles zipped, so not the most comfortable. The thought it there with the speaker and "book club" book offer, but this means nothing if the basics aren't met.At breakfast I was met with another quite rude waitress, I was alone but put on quite a big table next to a family with a young child, I asked if I could move to a smaller table in the window out of the way, as there were a lot of empty tables available it seemed like a simple request. I was simply told "no, this is your table"... okay. (there were no more than 6 tables used whilst I was there) - They seemed rushed and very busy, which was odd as it was only 30% capacity, but this meant it was 25 minutes before I could order. The food was very salty and not something I'd like to eat again.
