  : Unfortunately I managed to suffer a foot injury on day 1 - not linked to the cottage - so I cant tell you about the ideal location for walking. We had many miles planned so Im sure it would have been more than adequate!It was well presented, once we found it. Communication with the owner on the day prior was good and it appeared to be clean and tidy upon arrival. Fresh linen for the bed was ready for us to make up along with fresh towels too.Bed was comfortable enough with a heavy duvet and a spare blanket provided if needed too. A small wardrobe and a small set of drawers provided plenty of storage space even if not travellinglight.The spiral staircase was perfectly functional for us however I would imagine it a possible challenge for anyone not totally able bodied
  : There would be great benefit in adding a more obvious sign as we passed on our first occasion. We followed the provided directions but still managed to miss the entrance for the drive way. As for leaving the driveway then a left turn is less dangerous than a right turn - the drive leads to a blind bend on the road which would greatly benefit from a mirror on opposite side of the road to make it less of a risk. Combine a better sign with a mirror and thered be nothing to fault in that regard.COVID meant only a one A4 laminate sheet of information; wed have preferred another sheet detailing how to get the gas fire and the radiators going. Downstairs was very draughty but soon warm once we had fire and radiators working.The shower was plenty powerful and very warm however the water took an age to drain away and both my wife and I stopped short of anything other than a quick shower in case the waste water overflowed. Id have quite happily paid a little more for a welcome hamper with simple local produce for night one however a visit into Cartmel soon had us stocked with local beers, bread and cheese!

  : Milkmaids Parlour was a bijou gem! We had a great stay at Cartmel. The location was stunning and we were blessed with beautiful weather. Every evening we took a walk in the walled garden, filled with flowers and produce, then sat on the lawn and watched the swallows doing aerial acrobatics. Cartmel itself is a really pretty little town. About 15-20 minutes walk from the cottage, no pavement do it could be a little worrying at times as the road is narrow and bendy. We ate at Cavendish Arms twice and the food was delicious. Can really recommend ice cream from Hales, near the priory.
  : Honestly loved the cottage and location so this little negative seems petty, but our shower tray was slow to drain, definitely needs some attention. This next point is more serious- a mirror on a pole would be really helpful at the end of the driveway to check its safe to exit, we felt that the concealed entrance to Longlands could have been very dangerous.

  : Quaint little cottage in a beautiful setting. Excellent base to explore the surrounding area of the lakes. Plenty of space for the dogs to explore in the stunning grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful.
