  : Lovely grand building with outdoor pool and nice woodland grounds to walk
  : Dining in lounge area ( not the main oak room dining room) suited us cos the menu was better for us and it was more causal but felt like we were in the way of late afternoon tea guests and couldn’t sit at dining tables cos they were being set up for next days afternoon tea.

  : Breakfast and staffing at breakfast were below expectations. We later stayed The Royal Wells in Tunbridge Wells a much lesser establishment and the breakfast and serving staff were excellent.

  : This was our third visit . When we came last year the food in the restaurant was lovely and good value . This year the food was only ok , the breakfast both days had cold eggs . Staff attention was slow at breakfast . The evening meal was overpriced and delivered on cold plates . We did not book the restaurant for the second night because of this . We will not be returning anytime soon .

  : The grounds, the size of the room, the facilities and the food and drink were all wonderful.
  : The set up around breakfast. Asked at check in what time I wanted breakfast, I was told I couldn’t have 8.30 (my choice), and 9.30 was my alternative. We arrived at 9.30 only to find a queue of 3 other guest parties snaking down a relatively narrow and busy corridor outside the Oak Room. Waiting patiently I could see into the room that several tables of 2 (our required number) hadn’t been cleared.. which was infuriating. Then a waiter wheeled into the corridor a serving trolley from the kitchen containing several hot meals. The trolley was placed on the other side of the corridor to where we were stood and another member of staff attempted to take plates away. This created an incredibly pinched area to wait. To add to this, another waitress with a tray containing a hot drink decided she couldn’t wait to alert the waiter bent over in front of her that she needed to come past and of course he stood up as she tried to squeeze herself and the tray past myself, and my daughter and the trolley. We narrowly missed having a hot drink launched in our direction. I wouldn’t expect this set up in a TravelLodge. After a 25 minute wait with not a single word of apology or explanation for the delay, we were seated. Breakfast came, my meal was nice but incorrect and the delay whilst we stood in a corridor meant that we didn’t have the time we anticipated to make use of the outdoor pool area before we checked out.

  : Feeding the fish in the lake was a lovely memory with the children. We also really enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and going on a hunt for the trolls. The breakfast and the staff at breakfast were fantastic.
  : The shower and the bath hot taps were not hot enough. The staff in the casual dining area were not very helpful. We went up to order our own food and drink. No bill was then presented to us when we paid. We questioned it as it seemed too expensive for what we had and it was because service charge was added but of course we didn’t get much in the way of service. The food was not very good either. Also, our room was not cleaned until 17:30 which was too late as my children were ready to retire for the night.

  : Very friendly staff. Beautiful building and setting. Great facilities. Well maintained rooms. Comfortable bedroom. We had a very enjoyable two night stay.
  : Main restaurant menu was a bit limited. Overall, felt pricing was a little top heavy.

  : The grounds remain lovely and the amenities are still good although the snooker table has gone and the fake greenery around the indoor pool is looking pretty naff. The staff were all great and helpful and all bar one was cheerful - I'll take those numbers any day.
  : Both dinners were tepid. We gave them the benefit of the doubt the first night as it was quite busy. The big fish dish at dinner was the only one that was hot (1 out of 5) as well as the fries with the chateaubriand. Everything else was tepid at best. Shame as the food was delicious. The second night was exactly the same. Not sure how far the food has to come from the kitchen. Shame as the presentation and taste were good - just not hot.
