  : The staff were very friendly if a little flustered due to IT issues. Bar staff also deserve a mention as they were very nice and provided great service. I'd like to give credit to "Iva" who was great. Whilst chatting, she informed me that she normally works on events in the office and had been asked to help out with checking in guests, etc. She was definitely the happiest and least flustered employee around. I think she should be commended for her attitude and customer service skills.
  : Whilst I understand that the IT issues experienced (Cloudstrike problem 19th August 2024) were not the hotel's fault, they were struggling to allocate rooms due to having to operate via a manual process. I think that the hotel should have already had this in place, with appropriate training for staff. I've worked in significantly smaller organisations with robust business continuity plans and can't believe the Hilton were so unable to run their hotel whilst they had limited IT infrastructure. It made the checking in process pretty poor. Some people were having to wait upwards of an hour for a room which is not acceptable - mine took about 30 mins.There was also no redundancy for the door system meaning that you had to be escorted to your room by a staff member each time as only the 'master' cards were working. Made it a pain if you wanted to just pop back to your room to get something as it felt like you were bothering the already busy staff! It was also a massive security issue because at no point did I get asked for any ID or proof that I was staying in a room - I simply provided the room number and got taken, then let into it. Not very good and left me with little confidence.There was no offer of compensation, upgrades, etc, despite them admitting it was not a good experience. In fact the hotel was trying to charge me approximately £50 over the price I had paid when I booked! Unbelievable, but luckily I spotted the discrepancy straight away.The hotel itself was nice enough, I guess. Strange location near a police station and on a busy dual carriageway which I didn't clock when booking. Fortunately I had a room facing away from the noisy side but I could still hear sirens in my room. The room itself was not the cleanest room ever and the bed wasn't that comfortable, but it was still fine to put my head down. The main downside was the cost being about £160 a night - too much for a hotel of this standard.
