Rooms were not ready at check-in timeWe were meant to have both rooms at 2pm at check-in, however only one room was ready when the time came.We were told the other room would be ready at 2pm and reception would call to inform us.Past 2pm we still have not heard from the reception, and I had to call to check if the other room was ready.2. Room smelled like cigarettesWhen I was finally given the key card that was supposedly JUST being cleaned, I was given a room that smelled like cigarettes.The floor was meant for non-smokers, and it is simply unacceptable that I was given a room that clearly someone just smoked in, upon my arrival.I asked for another room, but the hotel was fully booked and couldnt even offer me a different room.3. Broken facilities in gym roomOne of the main reasons I picked Root Karakoy was for its seemingly well-equipped gym. When I arrived at the gym, the main cable machine wasnt even working. None of the cables moved, I couldnt even pull the pin out to change weights.Medicine balls were broken.Quite disappointing to say the least.However, location is very convenient, and the interior decor of the lobby was really nice.

  : Breakfast with a view was nice.
  : It needs renovation, the smell is very bad, I suppose ventilation is broken. The sauna wasnt working! It was 40 degrees inside and the door could be properly closed, the cold air was coming inside through big holes. The other sauna had such a terrible smell, that it was impossible to come inside at all. The pool is not a pool actually but a jacuzzi. The stuff came to my room and woke me up at 8 am while I was still sleeping because they thought we checked out, although we told them twice that it was just one of us who would check out earlier.

  : central, clean, great breakfast buffet, air conditioned.
  : language barrier ( we requested an extra pillow then an iron and it took hours to come after several calls, as they didnt understand English very well), at the checkout we waited 15-20mins for our bags to come out of valet only to discover they didnt communicate with each other and hadnt retrieved them at all, we almost missed checkin at the airport due to wait time (the president happened to also be arriving so traffic added to this time delay).

  : breakfast fantastic, location was good, clean.
  : language barrier. needed to ask reception fee times for pillows and iron before it was brought up as they didnt understand so ignored the requests. - also on checkout they made us wait 20mins for our bags to come at reception valet, only to find out they didnt even bother getting them and we were almost late to the airport. need better follow through when they communicate with each other. language barrier in English is an issue.
