  : The location on a hilltop looking over the Tuscany landscape was stunning. Really enjoyed our 4 nights there. Used it as a base to visit Volterra and San Gimignano. Claudia is a wonderful host! They make nice wines too.

  : The apartment was very clean, and the bedroom was a really good size, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Claudia the owner was a super host, and she gave us some good advice on restaurants and places to go. The pool area was quite large but never crowded as we had it to ourselves a few times in the mornings and evenings. It was stunning to watch the sunsets whilst swimming or just watching from the poolside whilst reading. Claudia does a cookery class and vineyard tours too. We didn't manage to get into the cookery class, but we spoke to some fellow travellers who did, and they said it was fantastic, using Quail, and lots of locally sourced typical Italian ingredients and then you get to eat it all together. We lost out on that, but we did do a mini tour of the cellars and the process of wine making and the different types they produce thanks to Claudias mum. I think she felt sorry for us that we had missed out on the cookery class and vineyard production tour, so get booking if you fancy either. The cookery was about 150 euros, but you can check with Claudia before you go via the booking.com website. There is a nice terrace with tables and chairs to relax in overlooking the Tuscan hills. Claudia owned a restaurant and achieved Michelin star rosettes before selling it on as have the new owners so she must know a thing or two about cuisine. We went to it on her recommendation, and we weren't disappointed. A lovely meal great staff and the price was surprisingly not high, in fact it was very reasonable. You can eat in or out but are both lovely. Check with Claudia how to get to the restaurant as it is at the top of Volterra town, and you can get to a car park which is just yards from the restaurant instead of having a huge walk-up hill from the normal car parks at the bottom of the town walls.
  : The lounge area of our apartment was a little less comfortable than we would have wished for but the kitchen area was adequately kitted out but being British we would have liked some decent size cups and not just the tiny coffee cups that were supplied. A kettle would have been a good item to have too. However, if you do have any issues with anything just go to Claudia, she will do her utmost to make it better for you as she did for us. A lovely young lady to be hosting this lovely place.

  : The location and panoramic views were stunning. The room was also very peaceful. It was great to have a table and chairs in front of the room. The swimming pool was lovely place to sit and read in the afternoon sun. Breakfast from 8 a.m. with in a lovely room overlooking fields with sheep. There was a delicious selection of homemade cakes, croissants, thinly sliced bread and homemade jams. In addition there was yogurt, cheese and games. Some guests had cereals. It was fun to make your own coffee from an espresso machine. I enjoyed sharing long tables with other guests. There was the opportunity to find out about their travel experiences if they wished. It was useful to have access to a washing machine and a drying rack to freshen up clothes. I was grateful to be able to park near to the room to reduce the distance to carry my suitcase. The host speaks English very well and is very helpful.
  : There was a 0.9 km track down to the Podere. It had a few potholes. Thankfully these were manageable in a small hybrid vehicle and when wet from rainstorm. The Podere is a few kilometres from Volterra up a windy road. This is where the nearest restaurants are situated. There were no plates or cutlery in the room. These were available in the breakfast room. It would be useful to have some in the room in the cabinet above the fridge for use in the evenings in the autumn when I wanted to stay in the room.

  : The location just outside of the city of Volterra is superb. There are 360 degree views of the Tuscan hills from the property. Claudia is a smart and hospitable host.
  : While our room was beautiful, the bed was very uncomfortable. We slept so poorly due to the hard spring mattress and flat pillows. I awoke every morning with pain in my shoulders and neck. I definitely recommend a foam mattress cover and softer pillows for out of country travelers.
