  : Pozzo dei desideri is just outside the small village of Castelnuovo, Abruzzo, easy to find and surrounded by fields and views of mountains. It is a proper agriturismo, family-run and very courteously too, in an old farm building that has a 'wishing well' and is beautifully lit. It is a venue for events: I arrived in the middle of a noisy baptism party, so escaped to the peace and spectacular views of the mountains and the castle at Rocca Calascio, which is of itself a great reason to stay here, being only 30 minutes away. I could even see another medieval castle at San Pio from my roof terrace. When I returned, peace reigned again and Mamma cooked me a superb meal, despite having been working all day on the party, and I was very grateful. On my second night, the restaurant was closed but I was given a great recommendation (and booked for me) at Monteselva, only 5km away.
  : The single bed (my fault for not booking a double) was not very comfortable. Wifi did not work other than in the reception and restaurant and needs extension boosters.
