  : The location is excellent and literally the only redeeming feature of this hotel. The Riva Grand is the WORST four star hotel that we have ever stayed in! The reception staff are surly and unhelpful, the 5th Floor restaurant (that we only used for breakfast) was dreadful and was like eating in a staff canteen with a 'tea lady trolley' constantly going around with staff who chatted loudly across the tables. The breakfast option were poor and only scrambled egg available every day (if you were lucky). The conservatory area adjacent to the restaurant was filthy with pigeons helping themselves to food from the tables and floor. The 5th floor 'infinity swimming pool' or 'large stainless steel jaccuzzi bath' had lovely views but we doubt anyone cleaned the sides in our 10 day stay as they were caked in grease. There was no shade, not one parasol and only 10 sun loungers for an 80 roomed hotel! Unbelievable! If you want a refreshment by the pool then we were told to obtain them from the ground floor bar! We had a balcony room (sun blind broken) with a fantastic view until we looked down and saw a disgraceful unused seating area strewn with rubbish, an old door, staff motor bikes, garden waste and general unkemptness. We could go on .........
  : To follow on from what we liked (or did not like) ....... We found out on day 8 of our 10 day stay that there was a free Local Guest Card available for all holiday makers from reception. This was available as an App or printable card from reception but when we checked in the Reception Staff did not tell us about it! This would have given free bus travel to local attractions, half price ferry for first trip, free access to museums, discount from shops, free first visit up the mountain lift etc etc. When we asked the reception staff why they hadn't told us about it, the response was that they were too busy and it took too much of their time to access a code to the App. (although they had a leaflet they could have given us). They did however point out an advertising poster (in Italian) that we should have read - not much use as we don't speak the lingo. We told other guests about this fantastic offer and no one was aware. Not good for a so called 4 star hotel!

  : Location of the hotel is excellent, in the centre and close to lake. I stayed at this hotel several timed in past and was reason why i stayed on this occassion.
  : The reception staff have a very careless attitude which is such a pity. The housekeeper and staff at breakfast could not have been nicer..The air conditioner unit is too weak for the room size

  : The location is fantastic but almost all other aspects of the hotel were disappointing. The view from the breakfast room was lovely ... probably the best feature of the hotel. The buffet area was too cramped for the number of hotel guests, though.
  : The decor of the the hotel is terribly dated (late 80s or early 90s) and is not in good taste. The hotel itself dates from the the Belle Epoque/turn of the century and deserves more dignified furniture from that era (there are only a few lonely pieces in the stairwell) instead of low quality "modern" furniture that looks like it is at least 25 years old.
