Locanda Palazzone - Orvieto

Surrounded by 50 hectares of its own vineyards Locanda Palazzone is just 5 km outside of Orvieto. It features a garden with swimming pool and panoramic countryside views. Locanda Palazzone is a charming and historic building built in 1300 in celebration of the first Jubilee. It features spacious suites with original features such as wood-beamed ceilings or wood floors.

All air-conditioned they also feature a comfortable lounge with flat-screen TV free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee-making facilities. A buffet breakfast of homemade croissants cakes and marmalades is served each morning. The restaurant open on request serves a fixed menu of Umbrian specialities at dinner. Free parking is provided at the Locanda which is only 10 minutes' drive from Orvieto Cathedral.

It is easily reached from the A1 motorway and is 20 km from Lake Bolsena.

: The staff and the cooking and the wines were exceptional, so too the view and the spectacular renovation of an old building into a modern design statement. The pool was good. It is about a 10-15 min drive into Orvieto which has the advantage of being quiet and away from the crowds, but means you tend to eat in the hotel, where the food is very good.
: Like many of these renovations we have stayed in in Italy, the fancier the design the less practical it is. The hotel is not well soundproofed and even if other guests are trying to be quiet, it is a noisy stay. Also, beware the split level bedrooms--the steps are really steep and really long. It is not just a few steps!

: The location itself is a masterpiece of beauty: on the hills and surrounded by vineyards. The room was fully equipped and beautifully furnished. I loved the window overlooking vineyards and Ovieto. Special mention also for the breakfast: it was extremely good and the quality was beyond expectations.

: What an unusual, beautiful renovation of an ancient building. An excellent repurpose of a property. The whole property is fantastic and our 2 story room had fantastic views. The dinner with the wine tasting was super! The easy distance to town was great too! NOTE: Make SURE you follow their directions, exactly, to get to the property! Our low-slung sports-car thought the road was a little iffy to begin with...but no problem...parking easy. They even have a charging station on the property.
: Nothing...but BE SURE to pay attention to the directions!
