  : The view out over Castelmezzano to the dramatic mountain peaks is fantastic, especially at night with the lights of the village and the spot-lit crags. The apartment is high- plan on a little exercise to get to it and travel light. From it you look out over the rooftops, including your own if you open the loft skylight over the bed. There is a good little kitchen. The town is cute, we felt we explored it well in a full day. We were, it seemed, just barely into the off-season at the end of September, so some shops had just closed until spring and the zip line connecting to Pietrapertosa was open only on weekends. Had we arrived earlier on Sunday we could perhaps have had a little more complete experience. Monday was quiet but there was a little town market with a wonderful cheese seller and we had a good hike. We were surprised to have perhaps the best dinner of our 2 week trip in southern Italy in this little town, at Al Becco della Civetta, recommended by our host.
  : It was no problem for us, in our 60s, but we are fit and had relatively light backpacks. For some the steep walk up to the apartment might be hard, especially with a roller or heavy suitcase. The view more than justifies the effort!

  : Amazing location, perhaps one of the best views over the pearl village of Castelmezzano and over the Dolomiti lucane. The rooftop, with the opening window over the sky, gave a poetic touch to our stay, letting us feel like we were sleeping under the stars. Superb host, amazing stuff: highly recommended!

  : Castelmezzano is a jewel. And the view from the apartment is fabulous! This alone makes it worthwhile to stay there. Lots of information from the host! Absolutely to be recommended.

  : really the only thing to complain about is the bed. it was very uncomfortable. with a good bed this place would knock it out of the park.

  : The view from the balcony, hence the location. The info regarding access to Castelmezzano.
  : The minimal staircase to access the mezzanine with the bed is not ideal; only a single plug on the side of the bed; the sofa had a broken arm and no cushions. Being February, only the restaurant from the single hotel in the village was open, so we used the kitchen facilities: we would have welcomed a second wine glass and mug (for breakfast) and in general few more bits in the kitchen (cloth tea towel to dry your hands, salad bowl, another frying pan, some items of cutlery,) and hooks or shelves around the shower to put our toiletries.
