  : Terrible Check-in experience. I booked on Friday Sep 8 at about 6pm for one night. I live approx. 3 hours drive from hotel Doria. I include as special request check-in between 22 and 23. They take my money immediately (transaction goes through) so I start my drive to get there. I get outside the hotel at 22.05. The hotel is completely dark. There is a handwritten note on the door only in ITALIAN (note most of the guests we met next day at breakfast were not Italian) with a phone number. I called the number and explained the situation. The Lady who answered informed me very rudely that check-in is allowed no later than 21pm (this of course is not written anywhere in the booking process) and that they did not receive my booking prior to leaving (remember they had already taken my money). After 10 minutes she was back at the hotel and let us in. I would not have made this negative comment and complaint (she came back to let us in after all) if not for the following: at 10.30 pm (when we were already set in our small room) she replied via email to my request declining the possibility of late check-in (see pic below)????? UNBELIEVABLE!! Bottom line is that for the price we paid (market price), the hotel should have 24/7 reception staff or at least self check-in possibility.
