  : The locanda was extremely noisy and the staff was barely present -- no one was ever available to answer my questions about Cerveteri or the best way to get to my next destination. And despite the fact that I made my reservation more than a month in advance, they downgraded my room on arrival to a much smaller size. Yet the place wasn't even full. When I protested, the manager just shrugged -- take it or leave it. The walls & ceilings were paper thin. I could hear every word spoken (or hollered) both next door and overhead.Overall, the manager made me feel distinctly unwelcome. I had a strong impression that they preferred Italian guests over foreigners. Moreover, the same establishment also houses a restaurant, which is directly above the rooms and stays open until 11:30 pm. Rumorosissimo! Both days that I was there they hosted a children's birthday party from 4:30 to 7 pm. Beat music blasting, a woman shouting into a microphone, and a crowd of children shrieking for hours. Un vero incubo! This was the worst experience I've ever had in Italy, or indeed on any of the four continents where I've traveled.
