  : Thanks for the feedback message. As follows is our experience from check in to checking out.We've stayed in the Hotel a few times previously over 5 years so I had no hesitation in re booking for a couple of days break in Athlone for my partners Birthday.When I booked initially, I did make a note on the booking that it was for an occasion and if there was an upgrade available I'd be happy to pay and extra. I didn't get a response in 4 days before arriving so I assumed it would be mentioned at the desk. It wasn't.We arrived at 3.30 and checked in around 20 or so minutes later. There were 2 ladies checking customers in and this seemed to be taking some time but this is fine and normal of people have needs to be met or questions about the stay.When we eventually got to the desk I gave my name etc and was asked ( without a qouted cost) if we would like breakfast. I said yes and paid for 2 for both mornings. The woman who checked us in changed the room number for some reason from 419 to 219.. I was left slightly surprised as I paid for a view and surely the 4th floor has a better view. To be honest her attitude from start to finish was quite cold and felt zero warmth from her whatsoever. I honestly was left questioning was it because I'd mentioned my partners Birthday and my partner being a woman however that's not something we can ever know.We got to the room which was quite warm and the view left alot to be desired. The first thing I saw opening the curtains was a man smoking on a balcony playing guitar. No note to wish happy birthday etc so another tick of dissatisfaction.We went for a walk and some food and came back to have some wine in the room. I'd rather buy wine form the venue rather than a local shop, so I requested the cali chardonnay an expensive wine on the list which I would have paid for 2. Out of stock so i opted for the Albarino.
