Disappointing

: We ended up at this apartment unexpectedly after being let down at short notice by another accommodation and having limited options. We know Rab very well, but this is not a part of the island we usually go to. We decided to see this as a positive, we were going to try something new. There were indeed positives about the apartment, mainly with regard to the location and view, but the experience was let down by what appeared to be the seriously slapdash and dont care attitude of the owners. If it had been very budget accommodation this might have been more acceptable, but bear in mind that this apartment cost 122 euros a night. As I said, we know the island well, and for that price (and sometimes considerably less) you can get some top-notch places, with air-conditioning and/or fans for sure. The good first: Very peaceful and quiet (although the church bell does chime regularly, including in the early morning). Balcony (albeit very small) with lovely view over the bay, including sunsets. Can walk in a few minutes to truly lovely swimming places, and can even walk to the town all along the sea. (Although, for those who know Rab, the apartment is not in fact in Palit as advertised, but in Kampor, which is slightly further out). Close to town by car (five-minute drive) if that is important to you, and even closer to a supermarket (although no restaurants/bars/beach bars within close walking distance). Good wifi with no problems.
: Outside of building shabby and poorly maintained. No air-conditioning, no fan, and when I asked the owner if we could have a fan (temp up to 37 degrees) she just shrugged at me.Very small towels.Just two wineglasses for an apartment which accommodates 4-5.Electric kettle not present as advertised (had to boil water in a pot, not a massive problem obviously, but not as advertised).Kitchen cupboard door falling off the hinges.BBQ advertised, and there was one, but it had no grill, so not usable. (I see from reviews from last year that someone said then that the BBQ was not usable, so clearly they did not care enough to fix this since then). No outside table. No plug for the bath. Not that I needed the bath for myself, the shower was fine (and nice and strong), but the bath was the only way of washing clothes and so I had to resort to stuffing plastic bags in the plug hole (which as anyone who has washed clothes in a very budget hotel knows, is not ideal). The owners attitude seemed very off. Most of the price had to be paid to her in cash on arrival, so I had brought a stack of euros. When I took it out of my wallet, she looked critically at the cash, before I counted it out, shook her head and said that wont be enough. It was, of course I had known how much it was going to be. Before we had paid her she was very visible. After we paid her we never saw her again (in all other places we have stayed on Rab, over many years, the owner will pop in at times to see how you are and if you need anything, and more often than not bring you some fresh fruit or vegetables from their garden. That did not happen here).Rab is wonderful and we have had many great experiences with many different accommodations here over the years, some more luxurious, some more simple but charming. This was neither, and despite the beautiful and tranquil setting, is not one to be recommended. The very overinflated price certainly does not reflect what you are getting.
