A striking 5-star hotel next to Mas Tinell Vineyards Cava & Hotel Mastinell is set just outside Vilafranca del Penedès. It features innovative architecture and an amazing structure resembling a collection of stacked wine bottles with a Gaudí-esque mosaic-tiled roof. The hotel won the Medalla de Oro de la Arquitectura award for best design in Shanghai in 2011. Its contemporary rooms reflect the inside of a wine bottle featuring a circular window with a mesh bubble-like façade looking onto the vineyards.

: The rooms were very nice with lovely views and good amenities. Very spacious.
: As Americans, we felt like the staff treated us as an afterthought. When we checked in, we weren't offered assistance with our luggage. We also weren't told about signing up for a wine tour, spa service etc. and it's a working winery. I emailed the property in advance about doing their coursed dinner, but when we checked in they did not have us down even though the email said they made a booking for all staying guests. We were looking forward to using the pool area and relaxing since the weather was quite warm and were disappointed to see there was no service by the pool, the grass didn't appear as though it had been cut in weeks, and the pool itself needed cleaning. The worst part of the experience is when we went to check out, we requested the hotel contact a taxi for us. After more than two hours of waiting, with no updates or even a glance from the receptionist to troubleshoot, we opted to make the hike into town while raining with all of our luggage to get to the bus station. For as much as this property costs per night, we were very disappointed.

: The staff especially the kitchen chefs and waiters and how it was very important to them that we enjoyed our stay and accommodated our dietary needs. Maria Torres at the front desk went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed. The room we stayed in was the jacuzzi room which is the best room in this hotel and we were so happy we reserved this room. There were a flight of steps that led down to the dinning area just outside of our room so we didn't need to go down to the end of the hall to get an elevator.

: Good quiet private location. Very clean and well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially Javi in the restaurant and Estella at reception.
: Two steps in the rooms which proved very difficult to navigate at night especially for my 85 year old Mum in the next door room. Air conditioning seemed a little unwieldy and difficult to control with ease. Keycards kept zoning out and required reprogramming. Rectified immediately once back at reception.
