Aimed at gay men the 4-star Birdcage G ay Resort men only Lifestyle Hotel is 5 minutes’ walk from the Yumbo Centre in Playa del Inglés. Set in tropical gardens it features a nudist-friendly outdoor pool hot tub hammock and spa area. You choose between deluxe rooms and suites some with a private garden and sun loungers. All have a fan flat-screen satellite TV and DVD player as well as a fridge and minibar. Bathrooms come with bathrobes slippers and free toiletries.

Suites have a separate bedroom and living room with a sofa. Rooms are studio style and feature air conditioning. A varied breakfast can be enjoyed daily on the terrace. There is a stylish lounge with a fireplace where you can relax with a book from the library or a cocktail tea or coffee. The spa offers massages manicures pedicures hair styling and more in the garden massage temples or in your room.

: Proximity to Yumbo.
: This is a case of too much of a good thing. The complex is small and immaculate. The staff pay attention to every detail. However, this means it is highly intrusive and there is no sense of privacy. They knew all my movements and odd little details about me. Staff, including non-cleaners, entered my room at will at any time of day. When I raised this with one of them, he shouted at me. I ended up only using this place as a place to sleep. There are better resorts with a better vibe around, admittedly not so close to the Yumbo.

: Fantastic setting. Very friendly staff made us feel instantly comfortable. We have already booked again for next year.
: The only thing we were a little disappointed with is the bar closes at 5pm. Would have been nice to sit and have a drink before going out in the evening. However, the mini bar in the room was very well stocked, so you still had everything you could want.
